A girl in a lavender and white frock and a youth in orange are caught love-making at th edge of a ripened wheat field by a farmer bending the stalks to reap them with his sickle; blue sky above, beyond the spreading foliage of an oak.


Verdant landscape, before a lake with a lattice of tree trunks at left screening the blue sky; a youth in orange is kneeling at the side of a girl in green and rose frock, placing a bunch of blue grapes in her lap.

Dimensions: 28 3/4 inches x 40 1/2 inches

Provenance: Collection of the Marchese Salza, Naples; Collection of Count Arthur Berchtold, Hungary; From the Galerie Sedelmeyer, Paris; E.T. Stotesbury; Sold for $300 each at the American Art Association sale March 29, 1934 (see below).
